About

Coagh ward lies in the eastern part of Mid Ulster, situated along the western banks of the River Ballinderry. The landscape is primarily low-lying agricultural land, with the river forming a natural boundary. The main settlement is the village of Coagh itself, a small hub with residential streets and local services. The area is connected by the B162 and B160 roads, with the larger Moneymore road providing a link to the west.

The local economy has historical ties to linen production, evidenced by the remains of mill buildings near the river. Much of the surrounding land is used for mixed farming. A notable local feature is the confluence of the Ballinderry River and its tributary, the River Moyola, which occurs just south of the village. The ward also contains areas of wetland and scrub along these waterways, supporting local wildlife.
