Colney Heath & Highfield Park

Colney Heath sits north of St Albans within the district of the same name. The village includes a linear high street with shops, a post office, a village hall and playing fields. To the west is Colney Heath Common, an area of heathland, wet meadows and seasonal ponds that supports local birdlife and invertebrates. The parish includes smallholdings and allotments and maintains footpaths that meet the lanes linking to neighbouring villages.

Highfield Park lies on the southern fringe of the Colney Heath area, a residential neighbourhood of houses, green verges and a primary school, with bus links into St Albans. The Alban Way, a surfaced cycle and walking route that follows the trackbed of the former Hatfield–St Albans branch railway, runs nearby at Smallford and provides off-road access toward Hatfield and the city. Local community groups organise events at the village hall and sports pitches, and management of the common focuses on balancing public use with habitat care.
