Coningsby & Woodhall Spa

Coningsby and Woodhall Spa sit within East Lindsey, linked by quiet lanes, farmland and the River Bain, which threads through Woodhall Spa. The spa grew after mineral springs were promoted in the 19th century and retains a layout of villas and small parks around the original baths. In Woodhall Spa the Petwood Hotel stands beside the river; it served as the officers’ mess for 617 Squadron during the Second World War and still displays squadron memorabilia. The Kinema in the Woods offers regular film screenings in a small, largely wooden auditorium that dates back to early 20th-century cinema design.

Coningsby is centred on the village and RAF Coningsby, an active station that hosts the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight alongside frontline fast jets. Local routes give access to walks across arable land and hedged lanes, and the area includes facilities associated with golf and outdoor recreation at the National Golf Centre near Woodhall Spa. Markets, village shops and community halls provide the everyday services for residents while aviation and spa history shape much of the local identity.
