About

Coolnagard ward is located in the southern portion of Fermanagh and Omagh district, near the border with County Monaghan. The landscape is primarily rural, characterised by low rolling hills, small fields, and scattered woodland. Settlement is dispersed, with the area centred around the small village of Maguiresbridge, which acts as a local service hub. The ward is traversed by the main A4 road, providing a key transport link towards Enniskillen to the west.

The region is defined by its waterways, with the Colebrooke River flowing through its centre. This river is part of the wider Erne system and influences the area's agricultural character. Historical estate lands, such as those surrounding Colebrooke House, shape much of the local topography and woodland patterns. The presence of these demesne walls and managed plantations adds a distinct, structured element to the otherwise pastoral scenery.
