Cubitt Town

Cubitt Town occupies a peninsula on the Isle of Dogs, defined by the looping Thames to the south and the Millwall Inner Dock to the north. The area is primarily residential, characterised by modern apartment buildings and converted warehouses that line the waterfront. Its street grid follows the historical layout of the 19th-century Cubitt Town estate, with quieter, low-rise terraced housing found further inland. The presence of the dock, now a marina, remains a central feature of the local geography.

The area functions as a residential enclave, with local shops and services concentrated along Manchester Road. Its riverfront provides views across to Greenwich, punctuated by the distinct presence of the now-closed Millennium Dome. A notable local landmark is the red-brick St. John's Church, which survived the extensive redevelopment of the late 20th century. The area's industrial past is still visible in the remaining cranes and the names of streets referencing former shipbuilding yards.
