Dawlish South

Dawlish South occupies the southern edge of Dawlish in the Teignbridge district of south Devon. The area combines residential streets with a short stretch of seafront and a band of local shops, cafés and pubs serving the town. Community facilities include a primary school, a medical centre and a community hall, while footpaths link the neighbourhood to the town centre. Housing ranges from terraced rows close to the seafront to later suburban streets inland, and local routes follow the line of Dawlish Water as it makes its way to the sea.
The seafront here is known for the long seawall where the railway line runs within metres of the promenade, so passengers and residents often see trains passing very close to the shore. The small stretch of river through the town attracts waterfowl, and swans and ducks are a familiar sight along the lawn and stream. Local transport links include regular bus services and the nearby Dawlish station provides rail connections along the south coast.
