Droylsden West

Droylsden West is a residential ward situated on the western edge of Tameside, bordering the City of Manchester. The area is characterised by a mix of interwar and post-war housing, primarily terraced and semi-detached homes. Its main thoroughfare is the A635 Manchester Road, which runs through the ward, supporting local shops and services. The area is largely residential in character, with some light industrial units located towards its northern boundaries.

The ward contains several green spaces, including the grounds of St Mary's Church and the playing fields at Droylsden Academy. The Manchester Tame Valley, a waterway, flows along the southern edge of the ward. Historically, the area was part of a broader industrial landscape, with remnants of this past visible in its street patterns and some older buildings. The local community is served by primary schools and facilities centred around the main road.
