Elms Vale & Capel-le-Ferne

Elms Vale is a neighbourhood within Dover, primarily residential. Streets of housing meet small clusters of shops, a primary school and a community hall, with a recreation ground and allotments used by local groups. Bus routes link the area to Dover town centre and the railway station, making day-to-day travel straightforward. Housing is a mix of older and newer properties, and several streets back onto patches of woodland and farmland that slope toward the coast.

Capel-le-Ferne sits on the chalk cliff-top west of Dover and faces the English Channel. The Battle of Britain Memorial occupies the cliff edge, marked by a curved memorial wall and the bronze figure called "The Pilot" by Ray Lonsdale looking out over the sea. Footpaths run along the cliff top and connect the village to neighbouring headlands, while the village itself contains a village hall, church and war memorial that record local experience. Behind the cliff, fields and scrub provide habitat for coastal plants and nesting birds.
