Faverdale, Heighington & Sadberge

Faverdale is an industrial and residential area on Darlington's northwestern edge. It contains a large business park focused on logistics and manufacturing, alongside modern housing estates built from the late 20th century onward. The landscape is largely flat, with the main railway line to the north and the River Skerne flowing through. The area's development is closely tied to its transport links and proximity to the A1(M) motorway.

Heighington and Sadberge are historic villages now incorporated into Darlington's borough. Heighington sits on a hill with a notable green and a medieval church. Sadberge, once the capital of its own wapentake, retains a quiet, linear layout along a main street. Both are surrounded by open farmland, contrasting with the more urban Faverdale. The area's geology includes a noticeable ridge upon which Heighington is situated.
