Ferndown Town

Ferndown is a town in East Dorset with a compact centre of shops, services and community facilities. The layout mixes low-rise retail and residential streets around a main shopping precinct, with a library and leisure centre serving local needs. Street patterns show the town's growth in the 20th century, and housing ranges from interwar terraces to later suburbs. Local bus links and short road connections give access to surrounding parishes without bringing large through-traffic into the centre.

To the south and east of the town centre lie stretches of heath and woodland that shape local recreation. Ferndown Common has sandy footpaths running beneath stands of pine and areas of heather, and those tracks feed directly into community green spaces and a golf course set among trees.
