Finchampstead is a village and civil parish in the borough of Wokingham, Berkshire, located just south‑west of Wokingham town. The parish includes the hamlet known as California and stretches of suburban and village housing, a primary school, a village hall and several pubs and shops. Local sports clubs and allotments sit alongside residential streets, and many people travel to nearby towns for work; rail stations at Wokingham and Bracknell are within a short drive, with road links reaching Reading and the wider M4 corridor.

The landscape to the south of the village is a mix of woodland and heath, crossed by paths and bridleways. California Country Park, on Nine Mile Ride, contains a small lake and picnic area that attract walkers and birdwatchers, while the Finchampstead Ridges provide longer walks through conifer and mixed woodland.
