Godalming Binscombe & Charterhouse

The Godalming Binscombe & Charterhouse ward is a residential area on the western edge of Godalming, bordering the Surrey Hills. It contains the distinct neighbourhood of Binscombe, characterised by a mix of post-war housing and older properties, alongside the historic Charterhouse School grounds. The area is primarily residential, with local shops and services concentrated along Binscombe Lane, serving the immediate community.

The landscape is defined by the River Wey, which flows through the southern part of the ward, and the steep, wooded slopes that rise towards the Hurtmore and Enton areas. Charterhouse School, a prominent independent school founded in 1611, occupies a significant portion of the ward with its extensive playing fields and historic buildings. The area provides access to local walking routes along the river and into the surrounding woodland.
