About

Grove is a village and civil parish in the Vale of White Horse, adjoining the market town of Wantage on its northern edge. The parish sits within the agricultural lowland of the vale and forms part of the commuter belt between Oxford, Swindon and Didcot. Historically Grove was in Berkshire until the 1974 local government reorganisation transferred the area into Oxfordshire, a change still noted in older records and maps. Road links and local bus services connect the village to nearby towns while a network of lanes and public footpaths leads into surrounding farmland.

The village contains everyday services and community facilities that serve residents of the parish and neighbouring settlements: a primary school, village hall, shops and sports pitches used by local clubs. Residential areas range from older terraces to more recent developments, with small business units on the village edge hosting light industry and services. Community events, volunteer groups and regular markets in nearby Wantage provide social focus, and the countryside around Grove is used for walking and cycling.
