Harpenden Town

Harpenden town sits in the St Albans district of Hertfordshire, centred on a long High Street with shops, cafes and civic buildings. Harpenden station on the Midland Main Line provides regular Thameslink services, and the layout of streets opens onto green spaces such as Harpenden Common, which hosts sports pitches and seasonal community events. Residential areas combine Victorian terraces, interwar housing and later developments linked by a network of footpaths and cycle routes that skirt the common.

To the northwest of the town centre the Rothamsted Research estate occupies fields and laboratory buildings.
