Hart is a local government district in north-east Hampshire, in South East England. It covers a mix of small towns and villages, including Fleet, Hook, Yateley, Church Crookham and Hartley Wintney. Transport links include the M3 motorway and rail services from Fleet and Hook to London Waterloo, which shape commuting patterns and local business locations. The district’s services and facilities are concentrated in the larger towns, while smaller settlements retain parish-level community hubs and sports clubs.
The landscape is made up of lowland heath, farmland, small woodlands and river corridors. The River Hart runs through parts of the district and has influenced settlement patterns over centuries. Fleet Pond sits at the edge of Fleet and is the largest natural lake in Hampshire, managed for both wildlife and public use and home to a local sailing club. Historic village centres, open greens and a network of footpaths link built-up areas with surrounding countryside and conservation sites, which are used for walking, birdwatching and informal recreation.
