Hereford North West

The north-west area of Hereford sits within the city's urban boundary, to the north-west of the centre and a short bus or cycle ride from core services. It comprises mainly residential streets, local shops, primary schools, play areas and small business units. Regular bus services connect the area with the city centre and with routes out of Herefordshire, and local roads provide straightforward access for commuters. Pedestrian and cycle links run into neighbouring districts and on to country lanes that lead into the surrounding agricultural landscape.

Here the River Wye makes a pronounced bend as it passes the northern edge of the city, and a riverside path follows that curve for several hundred metres, used by walkers and anglers. Community facilities include a library, allotments and community centres; small retail parades provide daily services. Housing ranges from terraced streets and semi-detached homes to post-war council-built estates, reflecting development across the 20th century and the area’s role as part of Hereford’s residential ring.
