Herne Bay Parade

Herne Bay Parade runs along the town’s seafront, following the line of the sea wall and the shingle beach. The promenade is backed by cafés, small shops and arcades that open onto wide pavements. Landmarks along the parade include the clock tower close to the shoreline and the pier pavilion near the seaward end, with a bandstand sited where the promenade widens. A regular line of timber groynes projects out from the beach at set intervals, breaking the shingle and marking the foreshore in a steady rhythm.

The parade is used daily by walkers, anglers and people meeting by the bandstand; the pier draws local fishing and short excursions. Coastal paths link the seafront to the town centre streets, while benches along the wall give clear views across the water. Seasonal events sometimes use the open concrete space beside the pavilion, and small businesses on the parade serve both residents and visitors who come for a stretch along the shoreline.
