Holywell

Holywell ward lies in the centre of Oxford, immediately east of the River Cherwell. It encompasses a dense mix of historic university colleges, including New College and All Souls, alongside residential streets and administrative buildings. The area is defined by its narrow lanes and high stone walls, creating a quiet, enclosed atmosphere despite its central location.

A key feature is the presence of the remaining sections of the old city wall, which run along parts of the ward's boundary. The area functions primarily as an academic and residential precinct, with the famous Bodleian Library's Old Schools Quadrangle situated within it. Daily life is characterised by the movement of students and academics between lecture halls, libraries, and college grounds.
