Kingsteignton is a parish situated on the northern edge of the town of Newton Abbot, within the Teignbridge district. The area is largely residential, with housing developments interspersed with older village sections around the historic church. It is bordered by the A380 road, which provides a major transport link, and contains areas of light industrial and commercial use along its eastern side.

The landscape is characterised by the River Teign, which forms its western boundary, and there are several local nature reserves including Rackerhayes. The area is known for its annual tradition of 'Apple Pie Fair', a historic celebration dating back centuries.
