About

Leeds Dock sits on the south bank of the River Aire at the site once called Clarence Dock. The dock basin and adjoining canal provide mooring for narrowboats and form a waterside spine for a mix of converted warehouses, offices, flats, bars and restaurants. The Royal Armouries museum occupies a riverside building with its entrance facing the quayside; the museum's galleries and public displays use the open space beside the basin. Walkways and bridges link the dock to adjacent streets and to the city centre across the river.

Hunslet lies immediately south of the dock and has an industrial history of mills, foundries and engineering works that shaped its street pattern and surviving structures. Redevelopment has added housing and commercial space while industry still operates along the canal and river corridors. South of Hunslet, Stourton is primarily an industrial and logistics area with warehouses, freight facilities and recycling operations and direct access to the motorway network, which makes it a practical extension of Leeds' supply chain.
