Lower Lune Valley

The Lower Lune Valley ward encompasses the rural landscape south of Lancaster, following the course of the River Lune. Its settlements include the villages of Halton and Caton, alongside several smaller hamlets. The area is characterised by agricultural land, wooded slopes, and riverside paths. The ward's geography is defined by the river's broad floodplain and the surrounding low fells, which shape its largely pastoral economy and scattered community layout.

The Lancaster Canal runs through the ward, with the historic Lune Aqueduct carrying it across the river valley. This engineering feature is a notable local landmark. The area also contains parts of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with public footpaths providing access to the countryside. The ward functions as a residential area for Lancaster while maintaining its own distinct, quieter village character.
