March West

March West sits on the western edge of the town of March in Fenland, Cambridgeshire, set on the low-lying plain of the Fens. The area is defined by straight drains, field boundaries and large arable fields where potatoes, sugar beet and cereals are grown; rivers and man-made channels carry water away to pumping stations that protect the peat soils. The town centre and March railway station lie close by, linking the area to Ely and Peterborough, and the parish church of St Wendreda is notable for its medieval stained glass and carved angels in the roof, visible from streets in the western quarter.
