Meols

Meols is a coastal ward within the Sefton district, situated on the northern edge of the Wirral Peninsula. The area is defined by its long stretch of shoreline along the Irish Sea, featuring a wide, sandy beach backed by grassy dunes. Inland, the settlement is primarily residential, with housing ranging from Victorian terraces to more modern developments. The beach is a dominant feature, with the lifeboat station being a notable local institution. A large car park and promenade provide access to the shore, which is used for walking and leisure. The area is physically connected to the town of Hoylake, with which it shares many facilities. Historically, the coastline here has revealed ancient artifacts and fossils, uncovered by tidal movements over many years.
