Mile End North, Braiswick and Kingswood Heath sit on Colchester’s northern edge, where suburban streets meet remaining patches of open ground. The area contains a mix of housing eras, from mid-20th century terraces to more recent estate developments around Braiswick. Day-to-day life is organised around small parades of shops, primary schools, and community halls, with regular bus services into Colchester town centre and convenient road access onto the A12. Braiswick’s newer streets were laid out with several small planted verges and pocket greens that mark the extension of the town northwards.
