Muskham

Muskham ward encompasses several rural villages situated north of Newark, primarily along the A1 corridor. The area is defined by its agricultural landscape, with large arable fields and scattered farmsteads. The settlements, including North Muskham, South Muskham, and Little Carlton, are characterised by traditional limestone and brick housing. The ward's eastern boundary is formed by the River Trent, a significant geographical feature influencing the local topography and land use.

The area has a notable historical transport connection, being the site of an ancient ferry crossing point on the Trent. Today, the A1 road and the East Coast Main Line railway are major infrastructures running through the ward. Community life centres on the local village halls, churches, and public houses. The Muskham Ferry pub, alongside the modern toll bridge, references the historical river crossing that once operated here.
