Netherton

Netherton ward is a residential area situated in the eastern part of Hyndburn, bordering the open countryside of Oswaldtwistle Moor. The ward is primarily composed of housing estates built from the mid-20th century onwards, featuring a mix of semi-detached and terraced homes. Its layout is defined by several main roads that connect it to Accrington and other nearby towns, serving local traffic and providing access to essential community facilities like schools and small shopping parades.

The area includes the notable landmark of the Peel Park Hotel, a prominent building with a distinctive architectural presence on the main thoroughfare. Much of the ward's western boundary follows the course of the River Hyndburn, which runs through a shallow valley. Open green spaces are found within the housing layouts, and the eastern edges transition directly into farmland and moorland, offering accessible walking routes into the rural landscape.
