Newton Abbot, Milber & Buckland

Newton Abbot sits in Teignbridge on the River Teign and grew up around its market and railway. The town centre still hosts regular market days and a mix of independent shops and services, while the railway station links the area to Exeter and Plymouth on the mainline. The racecourse at Newton Abbot stages regular meetings through the year and is a local point for events and trade. Industrial and transport history is visible in rebuilt streets and surviving Victorian structures near the station.

Milber and Buckland form adjoining residential sectors on the eastern and southern edges of the town. Milber climbs to Milber Down, where earthworks from an Iron Age hillfort sit on the ridge above the suburb and connect to woodland walks that drop back toward the town. Buckland contains long-established housing, local schools and community halls that serve neighbourhood life, with footpaths running toward the river and out into surrounding farmland. Together the three places combine town services, green space and transport links within the administrative area of Teignbridge.
