Penketh & Cuerdley

Penketh and Cuerdley sit inside the Borough of Warrington and combine suburban streets with open farmland. Penketh contains the village core with shops, a parish church, primary schools, a village hall and playing fields that serve local neighbourhoods. The River Mersey crosses the wider area and its floodplain shapes several of the public footpaths and green spaces. Local facilities include allotments, community groups and a handful of small commercial premises clustered near the older village centre.

Cuerdley remains largely agricultural, with farms and scattered houses linked by lanes and public rights of way. There are pockets of light industry and logistics uses on the parish edges while the central land is used for pasture and crop rotation. Long, straight earthworks and sections of decommissioned railway alignments now carry walking routes between fields, giving access to riverbanks and hedgerows used by local walkers and birdwatchers. The two communities share parish services and rely on Warrington for higher-order shops and transport hubs.
