Princes Risborough

Princes Risborough is a market town in Buckinghamshire set on the lower slopes of the Chiltern Hills. The town centre has a market square, older timber-framed buildings and a parish church whose core dates to the medieval period. A railway station on Chiltern Railways links Princes Risborough with London Marylebone and there is a branch line connection toward Aylesbury, making the town a local transport node for the surrounding villages. Local services include shops, schools and community halls that serve a catchment across nearby hamlets.

The landscape rises quickly to the south where Whiteleaf Hill overlooks the town. A chalk cross cut into the hillside is visible from many streets and marks one of the local high points used by walkers and naturalists. Footpaths and bridleways run across the chalk escarpment and through mixed woodland, with small parcels of farmland radiating from the town. Regular community markets and occasional events use the square and parkland, anchoring Princes Risborough as a settlement at the edge of the Chilterns.
