Rainham North

Rainham North is a residential ward situated along the northern edge of the Medway Towns. The area is primarily characterised by post-war housing estates, with a mix of detached and semi-detached homes. It is bordered by the M2 motorway to the north, which provides a constant backdrop of traffic noise. The ward includes the neighbourhoods of Wigmore and parts of Parkwood, featuring local shopping parades and community facilities like the large Wigmore Library and Community Centre.

A significant local feature is the expansive Berengrave Nature Reserve, a former landfill site transformed into a mosaic of wetlands, meadows, and woodland. This green space offers walking paths and is a habitat for various bird species, contrasting with the surrounding suburban development. The area is also home to several large retail parks and business estates along the A2, which serve as a major employment and shopping hub for the wider Medway community.
