Riverside and Laleham

The Riverside and Laleham ward comprises two distinct Thames-side settlements in the northern part of Spelthorne borough. Riverside is a compact residential area directly adjacent to the river, characterised by post-war housing and modern apartment developments. Laleham is a larger, more historic village with a central conservation area, featuring older cottages and a traditional village green. The River Thames forms the northern boundary for both communities, providing a consistent landscape feature.

The area is defined by its extensive river frontage and associated open spaces, including Laleham Park. This large public park contains sports fields, a children's play area, and provides direct access to the Thames Path for walking and cycling. The presence of the Laleham Abbey estate grounds adds to the green character. Community life often centres around the river and the local schools, with the historic Staines Bridge connecting the ward to the town centre.
