About

Rotherhithe is a Thames-side district in the London Borough of Southwark, historically defined by its docks and maritime industry. The area retains a network of quiet residential streets and converted warehouses, centred around the old Surrey Commercial Docks. Its waterfront provides long views towards Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs across the river, with a path following the Thames Path eastward towards Surrey Quays.

The area's deep connection to the river is evident at the Brunel Museum, housed in the engine house for the Thames Tunnel. A unique local landmark is the Mayflower pub, which claims a connection to the Pilgrim ship and holds the oldest liquor license in London. Greenland Dock, the area's largest surviving dock, is now a leisure basin surrounded by modern apartment buildings.
