Rottingdean & West Saltdean

Rottingdean & West Saltdean is a coastal ward on the eastern edge of the city, characterised by chalk cliffs and a distinct separation from the main urban centre. The area includes the historic village core of Rottingdean, with its village green and pond, and the more modern, residential layout of West Saltdean on the cliff top. The landscape is defined by the Undercliff Walk pedestrian path and the open expanse of the South Downs to the north.

A notable feature is the presence of the Grade II listed Longhill High School, a prominent example of 1960s educational architecture. The ward is primarily residential, with a mix of housing types from cottages to post-war estates. Transport links follow the coast road, and the area retains a quieter pace compared to central Brighton, with direct access to both the sea and downland countryside.
