Salisbury Stratford

Salisbury’s Stratford area lies immediately north of the city centre, on the inner edge of the Avon valley. Streets run down from the higher ground into the river meadows, with a mix of terraces, semi-detached houses and pockets of council housing. A short walk along paths by the river links the neighbourhood to the city centre without using main roads, and local retail clusters and a community hall provide everyday services within a five- to ten-minute walk for many residents.

The neighbourhood sits where the chalk of Salisbury Plain gives way to the softer soils of the Avon floodplain; that change in ground type is visible in the slope from the north into the green meadows beside the river. Public transport routes run through Stratford to the northbound roads out of Salisbury, and several footpaths climb from the valley to the surrounding downland. Local life is shaped by the river corridor and the easy access to both urban facilities and the open land that begins a short distance beyond the housing.
