Seales

Seales ward encompasses a mix of rural and residential landscapes on the eastern edge of South Derbyshire. The area includes the village of Hartshorne and parts of the parish of Church Gresley, characterised by older housing estates and more recent developments. The terrain is gently rolling, with farmland and pockets of woodland defining much of its perimeter. It lies near the border with Leicestershire, with the A511 providing a key transport route through the area.

The local geography is marked by the historic Gresley Old Hall, a Grade II listed manor house with origins dating to the 16th century. Community life centres around local schools, churches, and recreational grounds. The ward's western boundary is shaped by the former mining landscapes now largely reclaimed, contributing to its present greenfield and open space character. Residential patterns are primarily suburban, serving as a commuter base for nearby employment centres.
