About

Shooters Hill ward occupies the southeastern corner of Greenwich, characterised by its elevated topography and significant green spaces. The area is dominated by the ancient woodland of Oxleas Woods and the open heathland of Shooters Hill Golf Course, creating a distinct separation from more urbanised parts of the borough. Residential streets are primarily lined with interwar and post-war housing, interspersed with some older Victorian properties on the main roads leading towards the hill's summit.

The ward's name derives from the historic hill itself, one of the highest points in London, which offers extensive views across the Thames Estuary. At its peak, the Severndroog Castle folly stands as a prominent local landmark. The presence of the large Queen Elizabeth Hospital and several schools adds institutional anchors to the community, while the A207 road forms a major transport artery cutting through the area.
