About

Speke East is a neighbourhood on the southern edge of Liverpool, structured around post-war housing estates, local shops and community centres. The area is served by Speke Boulevard, which links the district to the city road network and the retail and business parks that sit near the airport boundary. Industrial and light-manufacturing units are concentrated to the south and east, providing local employment alongside smaller local traders. Public green spaces and play areas are woven through the streets, and local schools and health centres serve a stable residential population.

The eastern side of Speke meets stretches of wetland and rough pasture known as Speke Marsh, managed for wildlife and valued by birdwatchers for reedbed species and waders. A short distance north of the main estate sits Speke Hall, the timber-framed Tudor house with its moated garden and restored knot garden, which anchors the historical landscape around the suburb. The juxtaposition of civic housing, working parks and pockets of managed countryside defines the area’s character and daily rhythm.
