About

St Helier North occupies the northern part of the St Helier estate in the London Borough of Merton. The area grew from a 1930s London County Council housing scheme and still shows that planned layout: semi‑detached and short terrace houses set along curving avenues, small front gardens and strips of grass between road and pavement. Original LCC boundary walls and estate signage can still be seen in places, and the street pattern creates a sequence of small green pockets rather than one large open space.

Local life is centred on a handful of small shopping parades, primary schools, a community centre and sports pitches scattered through the neighbourhood. A network of bus routes links the area with Morden town centre and the Northern line, while cycle routes and pedestrian paths thread through the estate’s green verges. Recent housing renewal has changed some plots, but community facilities, allotment plots and the estate’s original road pattern remain the defining features for residents.
