St Pauls ward lies in the northern part of Surrey Heath borough, primarily encompassing the residential neighbourhoods of Lightwater. The area is characterised by housing estates built from the mid-20th century onwards, set amongst significant areas of woodland and heath. It is bordered by the A322 to the west and contains the Lightwater Country Park, a large area of preserved heathland with walking trails.

The ward includes the Lightwater Village centre with its local shops and services. A notable local landmark is the historic St Paul's Church, from which the ward takes its name, situated near the border with Bagshot. The terrain is gently undulating, with residential streets often leading directly into pockets of pine forest and sandy heath, typical of this part of Surrey.
