About

Stanborough ward occupies the southwestern edge of Watford, bordered by the M1 motorway and the open land of the Colne Valley. The area is primarily residential, characterised by suburban housing estates and several local parks, including the recreational grounds around the former Stanborough School site. A significant portion of the ward is taken up by the Leavesden Country Park, which provides extensive green space with woodland and meadows.

The ward is closely associated with the history of aviation and film, being adjacent to the former Rolls-Royce factory and aerodrome that now forms the Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden. This large-scale studio complex, while technically just outside the ward's boundary, defines much of the local employment and identity. The area is well-connected by road via the M1, but retains a distinct, quieter suburban character separate from Watford's main town centre.
