About

Thorpe is a village in the borough of Runnymede, Surrey, set close to the south bank of the River Thames. The settlement is arranged along a few main roads with residential streets, a village hall and small clusters of shops. Riverside meadows at Thorpe Green meet the river and provide footpaths and open grassland used for walking. Pockets of woodland and allotments sit between lanes and houses, and the pattern of land use reflects both riverside floodplain and built development away from the bank.

On the southern edge of the village lies Thorpe Park, a large theme park accessed from the M25. The park occupies land shaped by former gravel extraction, where lakes left by that work are still visible from nearby lanes. Local roads link Thorpe to neighbouring towns, and the combination of riverside paths, the park’s visitor flows and quieter residential streets defines how people move through the area at different times of day.
