Tyldesley North

Tyldesley North is a ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, in Greater Manchester, in north-west England, covering the northern part of Tyldesley. The area is largely residential, with rows of Victorian terraced houses built for mine and mill workers alongside mid-20th-century council estates. Local facilities include primary schools, small retail parades, a health centre and playing fields. A regular bus network links residents to Wigan and Manchester for work and services.

The local landscape carries traces of the town's industrial past: street names and clusters of terraces recall the Gibfield Colliery and other pits that once operated here. Community life revolves around neighbourhood clubs, amateur sports teams and seasonal events on local greens. Local pubs and churches act as meeting points, while a civic library supports adult learning and community groups. Recent change has focused on refurbishing older housing and maintaining local services, so much of the street pattern from the 19th century remains evident.
