Wandle

Wandle ward occupies the northeastern corner of the London Borough of Wandsworth, bordering the Borough of Merton. The area is defined by its industrial heritage and the River Wandle, from which it takes its name. The river's course is a central feature, with its history of powering mills still evident in the area's layout and some converted buildings. Housing is a mix of Victorian terraces, interwar estates, and modern residential developments built on former industrial land.

The ward contains significant green spaces, including King George's Park which stretches along the riverbank. Wandle's identity is closely tied to its ongoing regeneration, with new housing and commercial units continually reshaping the landscape. A surviving stretch of the original Surrey Iron Railway, an early horse-drawn railway from 1803, can be traced near the river, speaking to its deep industrial past. Transport links are provided by Earlsfield railway station and several bus routes.
