Waterhouse Farm

Waterhouse Farm is a residential ward situated in the southwest of Chelmsford, primarily characterised by modern housing developments built from the late 20th century onwards. The area is defined by its quiet, suburban streets and a layout that incorporates significant green corridors and open spaces. It is bordered by the A12 to the west and includes the grounds of the former Sandford Mill, which adds a historical layer to the newer construction. The local geography is relatively flat, with the River Chelmer flowing along its southern boundary.

The ward is largely self-contained, with local amenities including a primary school, a community centre, and several small retail parades serving daily needs. A notable feature is the presence of the Sandford Mill Lock and the adjacent water treatment works, which are part of the river's industrial heritage. Public green spaces, such as play areas and walking paths along the riverbank, provide recreational opportunities for residents. The area maintains a practical connection to central Chelmsford via main roads, while offering a distinctly separate, quieter residential environment.
