Wellington North

Wellington North covers the cluster of villages and farmland immediately north of the market town of Wellington in Somerset. The area includes West Buckland and surrounding hamlets, with narrow lanes, hedgerows and fields used for grazing and orchards. West Buckland School sits just off the main road and its Victorian main building marks the village centre alongside the parish church and a compact village green. Smallholdings, farm tracks and public footpaths link settlements to the eastern edge of the Blackdown Hills.

Local life is organised around the village hall, the primary school and a handful of shops and pubs that serve the wider rural community. Footpaths from the villages lead into upland commons and the parish council manages playing fields and allotments. Transport mainly uses minor roads and local bus services into Wellington town. Community events such as village fêtes, school fixtures and occasional agricultural shows bring neighbouring hamlets together and reflect the area’s long connection with agriculture and local schooling.
