West Hunsbury

West Hunsbury sits on the southwestern edge of Northampton within West Northamptonshire. It is primarily a residential area developed on former ironstone quarries and farmland from the late 20th century. Housing clusters surround a small commercial parade and community centre, with primary schools, play areas and allotments serving neighbourhoods. The abandoned quarry faces and regraded spoil heaps are still visible in places, leaving stepped terraces of orange-brown ironstone that shape local footpaths and green corridors.

Hunsbury Hill Country Park and adjacent woodlands sit within the area, where walkers use a network of paths that link open grassland, hedgerows and patches of mixed woodland. Within the park are the earthwork remains of an Iron Age hill fort, and the site is used for informal recreation and seasonal wildlife sightings. Cycle routes and pedestrian links connect the suburb internally, and planned landscaping around the former quarries includes swales and small ponds to manage surface water while providing habitat.
