West Watford

West Watford sits to the west of Watford town centre and is centred on Cassiobury Park and the surrounding residential streets. The area is primarily housing with a mix of Victorian terraces and 20th-century semi-detached homes, served by local shopping parades, primary schools and weekday bus routes. Short walking routes connect neighbourhoods to small greens and community facilities, and some streets retain cast‑iron lamp posts and stone boundary walls from earlier development phases.

Cassiobury Park, roughly 190 acres, shapes much of the area: the River Gade runs through the park and stretches of former estate boundary walls and gate piers mark the old Cassiobury House estate. The park contains sports pitches, tennis courts and play spaces, with towpaths and promenades used by daily walkers and cyclists. West Watford’s layout and street names still reflect the connection to the historic estate, and day‑to‑day life here is focused on local amenities and the park as a civic green.
