About

Westgate-on-Sea is a coastal town on the Isle of Thanet, situated between Margate and Birchington. The area is characterised by its two main sandy bays, St Mildred's Bay and West Bay, which are divided by a concrete promenade. A mix of Victorian and Edwardian architecture lines the residential streets leading back from the seafront.

The town retains a quieter pace, centred around its local shops and the historic Westgate Pavilion. A notable feature is the presence of tidal bathing pools, carved directly into the chalk reef at St Mildred's Bay, which fill and empty with the sea.
