About

Westham South occupies a low-lying coastal area immediately west of Weymouth town centre, bordering the Fleet lagoon. The neighbourhood is characterised by a mix of post-war residential housing and older terraced homes, with several small local shops and schools serving the community. Its streets lead directly to the shingle and sand of Weymouth Beach, which defines much of the area's atmosphere.

The western edge of the area is marked by the raised embankment of the South West Coast Path, which separates it from the tidal marshes of the Fleet. This path offers elevated views over Portland Harbour and the unique, brackish waters of the lagoon, a designated Special Protection Area for birds. The local economy is closely linked to the seasonal tourist activity from the adjacent seafront.
