Woodbury & Lympstone

The Woodbury & Lympstone ward encompasses several villages and significant rural land in East Devon. It includes the larger settlements of Woodbury and Lympstone along the Exe Estuary, as well as the smaller villages of Ebford, Exton, and Yettington. The area is characterised by a mix of agricultural countryside, woodland, and estuarine edges. A notable geographical feature is Woodbury Common, a large area of heathland offering expansive views over the surrounding district.

The ward contains the Royal Marine Training Centre at Lympstone, a major local employer. The village of Lympstone maintains a working harbour on the estuary, supporting fishing and small boats. Settlements generally retain a distinct, separate character despite their proximity. The area includes parts of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with public footpaths crossing the commons and linking to the South West Coast Path near the estuary.
